LEADERSHIP
HEAD PASTOR
Pastor Carl and Sherry Wimmer moved to Duchesne in March of 2021 to pastor the First Baptist Church. Carl and Sherry were led from the LDS church in 2013 and found peace in Jesus, alone. They began an in-home Bible study in 2015 and planted a Christian church in Gunnison, UT in 2017 where Carl served as Pastor as he studied for his bachelor’s degree in theology. He then went on to earn his master’s degree in Christian Apologetics from Liberty University. He retired from law enforcement right before their move to Duchesne and previously served in the Utah State Legislature. Carl also coaches track at Duchesne High School and serves on the Utah/Idaho Southern Baptist Board of Directors. They have five children.
ASSISTANT PASTOR
Assistant Pastor Troy and Sherrie Thompson are true testaments to how Jesus changes lives and marriages for good. They have attended First Baptist Church Duchesne since 2015 when they came to know the Lord. Troy teaches Sunday School and is pursuing a certificate in biblical studies through Liberty University. You can often find Troy on the sides of the High School football field, moving chains back and forth. He knows all the great hunting and fishing spots around Duchesne. Sherrie is employed at the Sheriff's office and plays a role on our church hospitality team. Troy and Sherrie have three children and three grandchildren.
DEACONS
Deacons are here to serve our members and community. You may also find them leading Bible Studies or filling in for Pastor Carl. Please reach out to them for prayer, guidance and service needs. Our deacons include Revis Carter, Larry London, Clay Clupepper, Wig Thomas, Steve Polson and Chris Buckner.
